We have scheduled hikes to Menengai and Kerio Valley according to the following itineraries
MENENGAI HIKE
Day 1
- Leave Nairobi for Nakuru early morning
- Take Subukia road and meet your guide at the designated place
- Take a light lunch and start the walk
- Walk for 3-4 hours to the viewpoint and campsite
- Relax at the campsite. Lunch and nature walk
- Bonfire and overnight camping
Day 2
- Cycling and forest walk
- Plant trees
- Take
- Leave for Nairobi after 2 pm
KERIO HIKE
Day 1
- Depart Nairobi early morning for Kabarnet
- Stop at Koriema for lunch. This is the home of the tastiest mutton, you will cherish nyama choma and fry from Baringo like you haven’t before.
- Proceed after lunch to Kabarnet. Drive to 30 Corner Resort where you will set up camp
- After freshening up and relaxing visit Cheploch Gorge at the Kerio River
- Optional activities include diving on the meandering river or just taking a relaxed walk
- Enjoy a bonfire and sunset at the campsite
- Dinner and overnight stay
Day 2
- You will take an early morning breakfast served from 6 am
- At 7 am drive for 21 km to Katin where you will start your hike
- You will hike for 21 km along Tugen Hills, stopping at different viewpoints to enjoy the landscape
- You will also have a chance to meet and greet the local farming community
- You arrive at Kimngochoch Camp early afternoon
- Take lunch and relax at the campsite
Day 3
- Take your breakfast at the camp as you enjoy the sunrise and gorgeous views of the Rift Valley
- Depart for Nairobi mid-morning
- Optional activities include:
- Boat ride in Lake Baringo or snake park visit
- Shopping for Koriema meat, honey and fruits in Marigat
- Arrive in Nairobi late afternoon
Mt. Kenya: Naro- Moru Route – 4 nights/ 5 days
Day 1 – Nairobi-Naro-Moru
Leave Nairobi for Naro-Moru town for lunch. Check-in at the lodge or Campsite for the rest of the day and night acclimatization.
Day 2 – Naro-Moru – Met station
After breakfast drive to the main gate. Start ascending the mountain through therain forest for 10 kilometres to the met station for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – Met station – Mackinders hut
After breakfast, continue ascending to Mackinders camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – Mackinders hut –Met station
Wake up very early, around 2.30am, attempt point Lenana via Australian hut to Mackinders camp for breakfast, and then descend down to Met station for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Met station –Nairobi
After breakfast, descend the last bit of the mount from the station via Naro –Moru main gate for a short drive to Naro –Moru town to catch your transport back to Nairobi or Nanyuki.
Mt. Kenya: Sirimon route – 4 nights/ 5 days
Day 1 – Nairobi –Nanyuki
Leave Nairobi for Nanyuki. Spend the rest of the day resting at your hotel/Banda/camp site
Day 2 – Nanyuki –Old Moses
Leave for Sirimon gate where the climbing starts. Walk through the rain forest for nine kms (5 hours walk) to the first mountain hut –old Moses (3300m) for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – Old Moses Shipton camp
After breakfast at Old –Moses, continue climbing through Mackinders Valley to the second hut Ship ton hut (4200m) for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – Shipton hut –Old Moses
Early in the morning, we climb to point Lenana 4985m (17,058 ft), on a very clear day we should be able to see Mt. Kilimanjaro in the South, Mt. Elgon to the West, and the Indian Ocean to the East. We descend to Shipton camp for the main breakfast and soon after, descend to Old Moses for the night.
Day 5 – Old Moses- Nairobi
After breakfast transfer from old Moses to catch transport to Nairobi.
Mt. Kenya: Sirimon Up, Chogoria Down – 4 nights/ 5 days
Day 1 – Nairobi-Nanyuki
Leave Nairobi accompanied by a mountain guide, arriving in Nanyuki in time for lunch. The afternoon is spent in Nanyuki acclimatizing. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Nanyuki.
Day 2 – Nanyuki –Old Moses
After breakfast, drive to the Sirimon park gate and begin your 5 hour hike to old Moses camp, 3330m above sea level for meals and overnight at the hut
Day 3 – Old Moses Camp –Shipton Camp
After breakfast, walk from old Moses camp via Mackinders Valley to Shipton hut (4200m). Dinner and overnight stay at the hut
Day 4 – Shipton -Lenana point-Mintos hut
Wake up very early, around 2.30 am, and hike to point Lenana (4985m). On a clear day we should be able to see Mt.Kilimanjaro to the South, Mt.Elgon to the West, and the Indian Ocean to the east after Lenana point, descend to Mintos (4250m) for breakfast then proceed to road head for lunch, dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – Chogoria –Nairobi
After breakfast, an early walk will take us to Chogoria for lunch then back to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon having conquered Mt.Kenya.
Aberdares – 4 nights/ 5 day
Day 1
Depart Nairobi through Kikuyu land to Nyeri in time for lunch. Explore the provincial headquarters on foot and later in the evening visit one of the local pubs. Dinner and overnight in a hotel (budget).
Day 2
Drive to Mweiga Park gate headquarters to pick a range (this is compulsory) Drive to Karura Falls where the trekking starts. Trek through various options to Chania Falls with a picnic en route. Dinner and overnight in a selected campsite.
Day 3
Hike for 16 kms to the Wanderi and through various options with picnic lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at a campsite.
Day 4
After an early head upwards through various options to Satima Summit, from the summit descend to Wanderi road head for dinner and overnight.
Day 5
After breakfast leave the rangers via Wanderi Gate to Mweiga Park headquarters where you drop the ranger. Drive back to Nairobi for your next destination.
Mt. Elgon – 3 nights/ 4 days
Day 1
Leave Bundari village after breakfast and hike for 13 km, to Sasa River camp (2800m) through the rich highlands. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 2
After an early breakfast hike for 5 km to Mude Cave Camp for lunch. Explore the ancient caves once used as a hideout during tribal wars. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 3
Leave after breakfast and hike up to peak Wagagi (4300m) and the Jackson summit which are lower than Wagagi (4200m) Descend to Sasa river camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Descend the last bit of the mountain to Budandari Village where trip ends. An optional extra day to visit the hot springs and the caldera is advisable
