Safari Tips

The following are standard but important safari tips

  •  Never exchange money on the streets; it is vulnerable to fraud
  •  Kenya is virtually a cashless economy. It is more convenient and less risky
  •  Keep your passport, money, and other valuables very safe at all times. Consult your driver any time you want to get out of the car for the safety of your valuables.
  •  Do not walk around the towns at night. Please take a taxi and preferably the branded one. Better still, consult your hotel.
  •  In the national parks and reserves and conservancies, do not wander away from designated compounds. Please adhere to the security guidelines provided at your lodge.
  •  Tropical heat can cause dehydration, nausea, dizziness, and headaches. Sunscreens and a hat can help as well as a pair of dark glasses should you find it necessary.
  •  Do not take photographs of the local people without their permission. When such a need arises, kindly consult your tour guide first. Never take photographs of the military and their camps, policemen in uniform, the President, or Government officials.
  • Harassment of animals in national parks is disallowed. Also, consult before disembarking from a vehicle during game drives. In most cases, this should be only at designated places.
